A quick response to Mat Cooke:

Hi, I was the waiter who came outside and “chased you down.” Let me quickly give my side of the story. Your bill was $100 dollars because you bought *8* beers and you yourself had two entrées. When you were inside you raved about how good the food was and only changed your story after I embarrassed you for being a bad tipper.

When I confronted these men outside, I asked if anything was wrong with the service, and I didn’t even need to mention the tip, because they already knew they left a terrible one. Rather than answer my question, the man who wrote this review said “I’m poor, sorry.” Well, buddy, if you’re poor, perhaps you should cut down on the amount of food and beer you order. If you didn’t have beer and you ordered only *one* meal for yourself, your total bill would have been around $50 for the three of you – quite reasonable for three people. With a 20% tip, which is what we deserved for the service my staff and I provided for you, your entire bill would have been $60.

Let me explain again what I explained outside, waiters and servers work for tips, these are jobs; we are not your slaves. You coming in, spending $100 and leaving $5 is equivalent to your boss deciding on pay day that you should only get ¼ of your paycheck.

Not ironically, I *literally* got claps from the people on the deck after you left for confronting you. You’ve probably never done an honest days work in your life.

So here’s the thing: it’s not that you won’t come back, it’s that you’re not *allowed* to come back.

As for the food at my restaurant, I just got a 5-star review from Westword and celebrated my *23rd* year in business anniversary – sorry, but I think the readers of this site will see through your whining with the credentials my restaurant has. Let me just say that I’m lucky I work in a family restaurant where I’m allowed to confront classless people like this, if I worked at a corporate place, I’d be forced to eat it.

This was the most money I have ever paid for bad curry in my life. The Chicken Bryony was full of bones and cartilage. The staff was friendly until we paid $105.00 on a $100.00 tab, for dinner for 3 men. After we left the restaurant the waiter chased us down in the parking lot and demanded we tip him more. I gave him $5.00 just to shut him up. I will never go back there and strongly recommend you stay away too. By far the worst curry night out I have ever had! A very expensive lesson, the Royal Peacock is a disaster, do not ever go there and if you do, then bring way more cash than you think you will need. Mat Cooke -- 6/7/2006 10:22:19 PM
